To safeguard the health of the children we support (most of whom have very weak to no immune systems) volunteers are not able to visit or work directly with the children. Does Little Heroes Foundation receive any form or government funding?

Little Heroes Foundation is in no way funded by local, State or the Federal Government. What is Little Heroes Foundation’s philosophy, who do you support and how did it all begin?

Little Heroes Foundation raises funds for essential equipment and services accessed by thousands of seriously ill children and their families. Our vision is to fulfill the unmet needs of seriously ill children and their families, to ensure they have access to the very best care, regardless of how rare their diagnosis is.

In 1996 we began following the plight of a sick little boy and his family’s battles during treatment. From this experience we learned that many of the facilities needed to assist his fight were not available or were of substandard nature compared to other states in Australia. For this reason the Foundation was born and it has since contributed millions of dollars to a series of significant projects at Adelaide’s Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

What projects does Little Heroes Foundation fund?

Since 1996, we have raised more than $13 million dollars for lifesaving facilities at Adelaide’s Women’s and Children’s Hospital, and to provide daily support to families around Australia through our Little Heroes Care program.

Our major projects to date have included:

  • $2 million towards the Michael Rice Centre for Haematology and Oncology
  • $3 million for two new MRI machines and an ambient lighting package
  • $1.5 million for the Play Deck and adjoining cafe
  • $1 million for a state of the art endoscopic operating theatre
